STOMACH GROWLING

December 30th 2006 09:54
The rumbles, gurgles and growls you sometimes hear from your abdomen typically are due to normal digestion. Hunger and appetite are controlled by a complex system of hormone-like substances primarily made by our digestive system. When we have not eaten for a while, these substances are released and cause a part of our brain called the ‘hypothalamus’ to "switch on" our desire to eat. A message is then sent to our stomach and intestines. This triggers muscle contractions and the release of acids and other digestive fluids as our body prepares for you to eat. The thought, sight or smell of food also can trigger this same response — growling, rumbling and gurgling, from our intestines.

Sometimes, stomach growling or rumbling can be a symptom of an underlying gastrointestinal disorder, for example, irritable bowel syndrome. But in such cases, excessive abdominal noise usually is accompanied by other symptoms such as bloating, cramping, diarrhea or excess gas.

Diet Pills for Over-weight

December 22nd 2006 05:11
There are two prescription medications commonly in use to reduce weight. One acts by blocking fat absorption (Meridia). You must also be careful not to eat too much fat while at a meal, because excessive fat intake with this medication leads to diarrhea. It is thought that one reason this medication helps people lose weight is by training them not to eat too much fat or they will suffer the consequences.
The other type of medication is an appetite suppressant. It is in the same category as amphetamines. There are some risks of cardiovascular complications, high blood pressure etc. Your doctor is unlikely to prescribe this.

If you are craving carbohydrate-type foods (starches and sugars), a non-prescription nutritional supplement that helps regulate your glucose metabolism can be helpful.

Prostate

December 21st 2006 04:25
The prostate is a gland of the male reproductive system that produces fluid for semen, which helps to transport sperm during the male orgasm. The prostate is made up of about 30% muscular tissues, the rest is glandular tissue. It produces some nutrients and seminal fluid that aid the sperm.

Normally, the prostate is small—about the same size and shape as a walnut. It is located in front of the rectum and just below the bladder. The prostate wraps around the urethra, which is the tube that carries urine out from the bladder through the tip of the penis. The older a man gets or disease can make the prostate enlarge which constricts the tube in which men urinate, so the bladder stays full. It becomes larger as men gets older, put pressure on the urethra making it harder for men to urinate.

Similar Blood Groups

December 20th 2006 04:36
Blood type does not affect the ability of a couple to conceive a child. When we talk about blood type, we are describing the proteins on the surface of the red blood cells. The plus or minus sign after the letter is a specific protein called the Rh factor (someone with an O protein who lacks Rh factor is O-, for example). While these proteins don't play a role in conception, they can play a role in the pregnancy and life of the newborn.

If a woman is Rh negative (she doesn't have the Rh factor on the outside of her red blood cells) and her fetus is Rh positive (inherited from its father) it is possible for some of the fetus blood to leak into the mother's blood circulation and cause her to develop an immune response against the baby's Rh factor. In subsequent pregnancies this can lead to the breakdown of the red blood cells in the fetus or newborn and can be a serious problem. Fortunately, there are ways to prevent this now, which is one reason that it is so important for all pregnant women to have routine prenatal healthcare

Kinesology

December 19th 2006 04:41
Kinesiology is defined primarily as the use of muscle testing to identify imbalances in the body's structural, chemical, emotional or other energy. It is used to establish the body's priority healing needs and to evaluate energy changes brought about by a broad spectrum of both manual and non-manual therapeutic procedures.
