Ginger tea for digestion
January 14th 2010 06:11
Ginger tea is usually used to help digestion and relieve nausea but it can be used to boost the immune system and ward off colds, sore throat and the flu. Ginger tea bags are available in health food stores but if you want to make it from scratch, it’s easy to make. Just heat four cups of water in a sauce pan. While it is heating, peel a two-inch piece of fresh ginger root and cut it into thin slices. Once the water boils, add the ginger, cover it with a tight-fitting lid, reduce the heat, and let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes. After it has simmered strain it and it is ready to drink. You may add honey and lemon to suit your taste but know that ingesting sugar depresses the immune system. Artificial sweeteners are not recommended.
