Hay Fever

March 20th 2010 02:51
Hay fever is the form of allergy belonging to a group of maladies including hives, asthma, and skin problems caused by protein sensitization. During certain seasons many plants, grasses release their pollens into air in large quantities. A person is said to have hay fever when he or she is sensitive to these pollens and other substances found in the air. It is called hay fever because the symptoms of the disease appear during spring and fall in England.

Balanced Diet and Constipation

March 12th 2010 19:06
Eat a balanced, varied diet

Monotonous diets invariably lead to imbalances and deficiencies. It is important to select foods from all the food groups on a daily basis – fruits and vegetables, whole un-sifted high-fibre grains and cereals, legumes (dry beans, peas and lentils), fat-free milk and dairy products, lean meat, fish or eggs, mono or polyunsaturated margarine and oils.

Counter constipation

Individuals who sit in front of a PC all day and eat low-fibre foods can easily develop chronic constipation. Don’t resort to harsh laxatives (including herbal products), as they will destroy your natural bowel movements and lead to laxative dependence. Eat plenty of high-fibre foods (whole wheat bread, and crackers, high-fibre cereals, fruit, vegetables, and legumes), drink lots of water and get active to stimulate bowel movement.
