Spot on the Lungs

May 28th 2011 04:20
Recently there were increasing number of cases in the spot of the lungs around the world. What is this spot of the lungs?

A spot on the lung is called a coin nodule and can be either benign or malignant. They can be caused by lung cancer or other cancer that has spread.

Causes:

1. It could point to cancer, especially if the affected person is a smoker.

2. It could also be a scar from a previous illness, such as pneumonia.

3. It might also be a sign of the disease Tuberculosis.

4. On a positive note, it might only be sarcoidosis which is a granuloma and is non-malignant.

However, a spot on the lungs could also indicate a tumor, which would most likely be a form of lung cancer, which has a low survival rate.

The best way to avoid these spots are of course quit smoking and get medication immedeately if there is difference in pattern of breathing.
