There is a popular saying in English – An Apple a day keeps the doctor away. But when it comes to the matter of Heart, nothing does the better job than the handful of almonds. Research proves that almonds are very good for heart as it is high in several types of anti-oxidants. They also improve the blood sugar levels. They also help in lowering the cholesterol levels. One ounce or handful of almonds serving contains the same amount of antioxidants as a serving of cooked broccoli or a serving of brewed green or black tea. Almonds are something that can not only cause a minimal rise in blood sugar levels (also known as low-glycemic), but also help to reduce blood sugar levels following a carbohydrate based meal.
