Types of Stem Cells

There are three types of stem cells.
Toti potent stem cells: These cells multiply into an embryo. This means they grow into whatever they came from. It is these cells that are used in cloning. Dolly, the first cloned sheep in the world was made using this cell.
Pluri potent stem cells: These are very useful in medical treatment. They can multiply and develop into an organ they are injected into. If they are injected into a damaged muscle or tissue, they become that muscle or tissue.
Multi potent stem cells: These cells are very useful in medical treatments. When injected into an organ, they can regenerate and multiply continuously and endlessly. This means they actually create a new organ in place of diseased organ. This too holds good as these cells can be used in any part of the body.
